My nerves could stand a drink

I am a fan of Old Hollywood. My favorite actors from the time are Gene Kelly, Cary Grant, William Powell, Myrna Loy, Lucille Ball, and Grace Kelly.

I inherited too many magazines to count from my Grandfather with the earliest issue being a LIFE magazine from 1949. I also have an expansive collection of Grace Kelly memorabilia. As a fan, I know I would appreciate someone sharing their collection with me so I decided to extend the same courtesy with this tumblr.

I was able to see the Grace Kelly exhibit in Toronto this month and of course I was thrilled. My favorite part of the exhibit had to be her clothes. Her Oscar gown, High Society swimsuit cover-up, the lace Oleg Cassini dress (which happens to be one of my favorites), the dress she wore when she met Rainier, and her Civil Ceremony dress…it was all incredible. I always pictured those dresses as looking different than they did in real life, probably just time that has changed them.
The picture collection was impressive too, mainly from her years as an actress. Her modeling shots, Howell Conant outtakes from Jamaica and on the set of The Bridges at Toko-Ri, and many behind the scenes shots from “The Swan.” Too bad photography wasn’t allowed. If any of you get the chance to see the exhibit in Australia this year, I do highly recommend it!
